EmpoweringWomenBoomfit: Woman is everything she wants to be

EmpoweringWomenBoomfit: A Mulher é tudo aquilo que ela quiser ser

This March, we wanted to dedicate the month to the most fantastic being of all: Woman. It was four weeks where we celebrated those who shaped our world, making it a fairer place, through a movement we called #EmpoweringWomenBoomfit!

Throughout the month, many photos of the postcard leaflets we sent with our orders reached us. And here on the blog, we dedicated several topics to the Woman:

👉 Happy Women's Day

👉 Myths and Beliefs: Women in the Fitness World

👉 Pregnancy and Physical Exercise: How to Reconcile?

For all these reasons, we end the month with our duty fulfilled: we wanted to create an action that would spark reactions and show that the Woman is capable of breaking prejudices and overcoming inequalities.

“Each and every one of you can be leaders and support others to also achieve their goals.” – Michelle Obama

We began this month with a video where we aimed to showcase the strength of the Woman, equating it to the journey of dozens of women who fought for rights and drove change.

A strong, empowered Woman who feels good about herself, proud of what she does and who she is, fearless. She is a nurse who juggles her busy life but inspires other Women to show their true selves.

This was the focus of our video: all Women can be whatever they want! All women can reach their goals, free themselves from outdated social constraints and representations that parts of society try to impose, be it through education, social status, or mere tradition. We truly believe that “female empowerment cannot be measured,” whether in society or in fitness.

What drove us to go even further!

It is often said that “information is power.” On the other hand, correct information helps make right decisions. And that’s what we did throughout this month here on the blog: provide factual information about the relationship between Fitness and Woman, because entirely incorrect and unfounded beliefs about women exercising still exist.

Ultimately, there are no exercises for Women and men separately: there is no such thing as a “female training plan”! Exercise does not make you bulky; in fact, it can be a great ally during pregnancy or menstruation.

“Education is the power of Women!” – Malala Yousafzai

When we were developing this movement’s idea, we wondered how we would take this action to the members of the BOOMFIT Community: yes, we had the video, the blog, and social media, but we wanted to engage them by honoring extraordinary Women.

Thus, the idea of postcard leaflets was born, which we sent with all orders during March. Each member was invited to share these ‘pop-art’ images, created by the BOOMFIT Team, on their social networks, tagging BOOMFIT.

We received many messages from members sharing inspiring stories of Michelle Obama, Frida Kahlo, Angela Davis, Malala Yousafzai, among others. We wanted to tell their stories, demonstrating their importance to the world, their struggles, why they made a difference in such an unequal society, and why their actions still make sense today, be it through activism, art, or leadership.

Now, it’s our turn to give back: in the coming days, BOOMFIT will contact each of our members and award a reward for joining us in this action. Good deeds should be rewarded, and fighting for a fairer society is indeed a good deed!

Final considerations

The #EmpoweringWomenBoomfit movement is just one of the actions BOOMFIT created to raise awareness about the inequalities and prejudices that stubbornly persist.

We wanted to provoke reactions, be unsettling, break deep-rooted barriers and societal prejudices that, despite many advances, still have “grains in the gears” that prevent continuous and progressive equal rights.

Every day, at BOOMFIT, we want to continue celebrating the Woman: we champion the acceptance of the individuality of a being who builds and rebuilds herself daily, whether for herself or by how she gives to others in her daily life, never forgetting that, through her inner strength, there are no limits for her!

Let’s celebrate all Women every day!
