The "Other Ways" of Communicating in Fitness

As "outras formas" de comunicar no Fitness

This week, we kicked off a new approach on social media, bringing a fresh language and image with athletes who are already the face of our brand. Exploring other ways to communicate while engaging with athletes and professionals, understanding their needs and goals with our equipment, is something we always aim for whenever we go "out in the field" with them.

It's no secret that social media is an essential complement in many business areas. Knowing how to leverage it can be highly beneficial for certain sectors.

Fitness is no exception! We already know that social media has huge power: not only to reach more people but also to showcase what we do and offer.

With this blog post, we want to convey the importance of knowing how to make the most out of social media!

Humanize your brand

Here on the BOOMFIT blog, we've talked a lot about social media, offering tips on what you need to know about this reality. But the last time we discussed social media exclusively was... in 2020 in an article titled "Personal Trainers: Everything You Need to Know About Social Media"!

Since then, many things have changed: TikTok has emerged strongly; Instagram saw its user base grow; LinkedIn has firmly established itself as the premier professional network; and Facebook has seen many users migrate elsewhere. Threads appeared, Twitter is now called “X,” and YouTube focuses on being the main global internet video platform.

Many of the tips we gave back then still remain...

👉 “You shouldn't follow the path of most people who try to sell their services or products in every post, because it tires the audience.”

👉 “You must stay true to who you are and to your values.”

👉 “Be consistent with your content.”

👉 “Post original content.”

👉 “Engage with your audience.”

All these truths remain unchanged: your followers and clients still seek honesty and transparency, looking for someone who adds value when conveying any message!

But how to promote yourself?

We now share some insights on what you can do to stand out from your competitors:

👉 Invest in a professional social media presence

Some personal trainers starting out may use their own personal profiles, as they might have an acceptable follower base to begin this journey. Although possible, you shouldn’t follow this strategy: personal profiles should be completely separate from the pages you use to promote your work as a personal trainer. This will positively impact your credibility, as content for friends and family will be completely separate from your professional content. Also invest in your personal brand, with a well-defined graphic identity, hiring a qualified professional if necessary, and apply it to the content you create for your social media, clearly defining your target audience. This approach will demonstrate coherence, credibility, and professionalism.

👉 Create valuable content!

After creating and defining your personal brand, plan the content you will share. This content can be exercise tips, recipes, testimonials... anything that can help you reach your target audience. If needed, create a schedule for what you will publish on each social media platform you're on, adapting content and tone to each platform. Maintain consistency and regularity, showcasing your work as a personal trainer and sharing testimonials or workouts, betting on disruptive formats such as video, live streams, or even 360° videos. However, remember: be authentic and keep your personality! This will make the difference, establishing you as an “authority” in the fitness world!

👉 Connect with your audience!

The keyword is “engage”! Fearlessly! Keep an informal tone, but strive to communicate in a personalized way, clarifying doubts and always responding to requests and comments. At some point, you might not be able to answer everything, and some interactions might only require a simple reaction! If that moment comes, it's time to find someone to help you with the task.

👉 Learn from your audience!

You should always keep the “door open” to positive feedback, but especially to less positive opinions, as long as they are constructive, regarding the content you create for social media. By allowing yourself to receive this feedback, you can evaluate your difficulties and the needs of your future clients, allowing you to adapt your planning and thus produce content that truly adds value to them.

👉 Evaluate your competitors!

If you want to differentiate yourself from competitors, you must also watch what they create, assessing content, formats, and how they impact their target audience. The goal is not to copy or “steal ideas,” but rather to analytically look at this content and figure out how you can differentiate yourself while maintaining your personality and identity.

Final considerations

Just like your athletes, social media presence requires time, effort, dedication, and consistency! You should view your audience as your ambassador, promoting your work. And this is only achieved if you deliver a professional and polished presence.

These tips are just a first step to start your presence, and it’s certain that you will probably need to invest in some type of training to keep up with the latest trends and potentials always emerging.

At BOOMFIT, you can count on all the support necessary to continue offering value to your athletes: our team is always ready to help you find the best equipment and accessories to ensure the services you provide are always top quality.

Happy training!
