According to Visão magazine, a team of researchers used a sample of young adult rats to discover the effects that physical activity induces in the body. The team from the "Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium" (also known as MoTrPAC) employed a series of laboratory techniques to analyze the molecular changes occurring during eight weeks of intense exercise.

The research shows that all tested body tissues respond to training, totaling over 35,000 biological molecules that respond and adapt to endurance exercise over time, including tissues from organs not typically associated with exercise. What seems to have raised great interest were the widespread differences between male and female organisms, affecting the brain, adrenal glands, lungs, and adipose tissue.

Although the experiment was conducted on rats, the investigation opens doors for more research in humans. The study's conclusions highlight the need to include athletes of both sexes in future research to fully understand the role of physical exercise in health. This study has already opened other avenues, as its knowledge will guide researchers in analyzing data from another study currently being conducted on humans about how the body responds to physical exercise in a broader sense with various parameters over a longer time.
