World Children's Day: No One Is Left Out!

Dia Mundial da Criança: Ninguém fica de fora!

Sport generates important values, such as team spirit, solidarity, tolerance, and competition (fair play), thus contributing to personal development and fulfillment.

"Sport is the one thing that can unite people like no other activity. Sport can bring hope where there was despair. Sport breaks down racial barriers. Sport laughs at discrimination. Sport speaks to people in a language everyone can understand."

Nelson Mandela

Based on UNICEF’s "Principles of the Rights of the Child in Sport": "Ensuring that no child is discriminated against based on sex, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation or identity, language, religion, culture, political opinion or any other opinion, social or national origin, type of disability, economic status or other, of the child or their parents or caregivers..." we wanted to bring together the connection between Sport and Children on this Day, with the motto: "No One Is Left Out."

"Sport speaks to all in a language everyone can understand"

Inspired by the quote from South African activist and politician Nelson Mandela, we created a video where several children share various stories linked by two common points: integration/non-discrimination and sport.

Sport is, so to speak, the “glue” that unites children of different genders, colors, nationalities, disabilities, or statuses without discrimination. Being different does not mean a child has no right to play or participate in a football game or jump rope.

The video tells three short stories that represent the daily life of a playground: team selection for a football match, the shy child who has few friends and is invited to join the game, or allowing another child to take part in the jump rope!

Through this action, we aimed to show the joy and unity brought by sport, that discrimination is not inherent: it is something created by fear of the unknown, and that fear can be overcome through sport. Because in sport, "no one is left out"!

"Sport can bring hope where there was despair."

Perhaps that is why we wanted to create this video, marking World Children's Day in a way where the Child is the true protagonist.

Sport is more than competition: it is a creator and unifier of people and their values and, as Mandela said, it "brings hope where there was previously despair."

Children are the spokespersons of that hope, even if the sport they practice is just playing in the schoolyard. They are the ones who, from an early age, run, jump, play ball… in short, engage in all kinds of physical exercise, feeling good throughout the process and sharing that joy with others, even if they are of a different gender, shy, or alone.

Because "no one is left out" in this moment of sharing.

Final remarks

With the video celebrating Children's Day, we wanted to show that everyone is welcome to practice sport, that everyone is equal, that there are no colors, genders, or ethnicities: there are people! There are children who want to be children and have fun.

At BOOMFIT, we believe that NO ONE IS LEFT OUT: Sport is for everyone! Without exceptions!

Happy Children's Day to all children!

Happy training!
