If you are a Personal Trainer, your goal is to meet the needs of your athletes. This should, in fact, be the guiding principle of any professional in the job market.
In addition to this, there are other priorities: we have already discussed here on the blog the various training courses you should have or how you can receive feedback from your athletes.
And it is precisely on "feedback" that we will focus in this article!
Have you ever asked yourself this question:
👉 "How much is my athletes' satisfaction worth?"
Whether you are taking your first steps in the fitness world or even if you already have some experience, you must have realized that your athlete is the most valuable part of your work. Keeping them motivated to achieve the goals of their training plan is very important. It is the main goal of your work and should be the fuel that keeps you going.
However, there is a moment that all professionals should promote: evaluation from those who train. After all, it is your athletes who work with you and, to some extent, can help you understand what you are doing well and what needs to be corrected.
We have already talked here on the blog about how you can collect these opinions, and these inputs should be taken seriously. Some more honest opinions and criticisms can be, at the very least, unsettling, and as long as they are factual and well-argued, you must have the "flexibility" to accept, internalize, and apply them in training. If the opinions are identified, you should talk with the athletes, promoting an open and honest conversation about the trainings and how you can improve.
👉 Making the Most of Your Athletes' Feedback
But if the feedback is mostly (or entirely) positive, take advantage of it and be proud of all the progress you have made!
Besides continuing to do your job like no one else, it is time to take these opinions and put that information to work for you, making it part of your brand:
✔️ Identify Your Strengths
From all the feedback received, sort through and try to understand what your strengths are and what distinguishes you, and use that in your promotion. For example, if your athletes consider that you are capable of creating an extremely personalized training plan tailored to specific situations (weaknesses, motor deficiencies, etc.), this can be an aspect you want to emphasize in your communication.
✔️ Share "Real Testimonials"
Create content for your social networks with excerpts of the feedback received and, if possible, accompanied by a photo and the respective athlete's name or even videos of your athletes talking about your work. This type of content will give authenticity to your career as a Personal Trainer, conveying the image that you are someone reliable who delivers results.
✔️ Share Content from Your Athletes!
If your athletes follow you, why not follow them back? And if they post videos or photos of the training sessions and tag you, why not share these contents with your followers?
It might not seem like it, but this is a form of positive feedback and promotional content. Usually, no one shares unhappy or sad moments, and by sharing this content with your community, you show the value you bring in training.
✔️ Encourage More People to Train!
Why not use your athletes as your ambassadors by promoting your services? Perhaps this already happens organically, but if you add some kind of incentive, such as a discount or special offer for each person your athlete brings for you to train, the number of athletes will rise considerably. This kind of incentive will encourage those satisfied with you to recommend you to others, functioning as "word-of-mouth."
✔️ Build Your Community
How about creating a group on WhatsApp or another platform with all your athletes, even those you no longer coach, and using that group as a way to promote your brand? The group could be used to share useful information, tips, and foster connection and friendship among all athletes. However, for you, it would have an extra function: showing that your athletes are satisfied, that there is a culture of mutual support, and if that community has a considerable number of members, it can demonstrate that you are a trustworthy person who delivers results.
Final Considerations
Your athletes' feedback is a powerful tool that you can and should use to obviously improve your services. Moreover, it can (and should) be used to present yourself as an authority in the fitness world.
Your athletes' word is valuable as it adds credibility and authenticity to what you offer, making your brand not just words but backed by facts. Thus, you should create an open relationship with your athletes: they will be your partners to help you continuously improve while helping you grow your client base.
